About ill-advised records

Formed in early 2017, ill-advised records is a Canada-based lofi and retro record label.
Our mission is to branch out beyond the standard "relax and study” beats typical of the lofi hip-hop scene to bring more creative sounds into the mix, while not completely abandoning the popular lofi aesthetic that brought so many into the genre. Recently, we have also been branching out into other genres, such as synthwave, darksynth and vaporwave.

At ill-advised records, we believe that lofi and retro genres have room to grow, and record labels need to support the bands that are aching to shake up the scene with new sounds.

As a very art-focused label, we’re aiming to bring a new sort of aesthetic by partnering with visual artists and producers alike. In addition to music, we intend to release zines, posters, stickers, prints, clothing and much more in order to create a rich aesthetic that suits our music.

Ill-advised is and will always be a true passion project, and we’re always looking for the next cool thing worth pouring all of our free time into!
